Two men arrested after discovery made in Bible | News
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A discovery made inside a Bible at a downtown Louisville business has two men facing charges.
The discovery was made in a room in the hotel part of Hotel Louisville at 2nd Street and Broadway. The hotel doubles as a homeless shelter. The director of the building said what was discovered was not only distrusting, but it's a slap in the face.
"The Holy Scripture is what we stand for, what we live by," said Nina Moseley, the Hotel Louisville owner.
But tucked among the pages of The Bible police said they found the unexpected.
"It was very disgusting to hide something so harmful and so destructive in the Holy Scripture," Moseley said.
Reading wasn't the reason two men were thumbing through the Bible. Police say they were stashing cocaine inside the book that serves as a foundation for Hotel Louisville and Wayside Missions.
"To degrade it with something so vile we were very upset by it," Moseley said.
James Locke and Jason Locke were arrested Wednesday night for the crime. Moseley is quick to point out that they were not people who seek refuge in the shelter portion of the building.
"These were hotel guests that came in off the street," Moseley said.
Moseley said it could happen at any hotel. The two were paying guests, in one of the 120 hotel rooms. 136 rooms are set aside for Wayside Missions.
The 12 story mixed-use downtown building is divided like this: Floors 4, 5, 6, and 11 are used for Wayside Transitional Housing. Floors 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 are used as a full-service hotel. People are only able to enter specific floors with their room key.
Moseley said it's still alarming to have illegal activity in a facility that's trying to help people turn their life around.
"Our business is putting people's lives back together, rehabilitating them, having them come back in the community as self-sufficient, productive, clean, and sober people," Moseley said.
The two men are facing several drug related charges and are expected back in court later this month.
