LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An arrest warrant is pending for a Louisville woman charged with her baby's death.
Geneva Walters told police she gave her son, 8-month-old Michael Cowherd, adult-strength pain killers and left him in a bathtub.
She was supposed to appear in court Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing, but she never showed.
"I think that if you have a case in circuit court it is a very important thing. If you are charged with a very serious offense like she's charged here, I think it must be the most important thing she's dealing with and is she's told to be here at a certain time it is inexcusable to me that she would not be here," said Judge Olu Stevens.
Judge Stevens reset the hearing date for Wednesday morning. If Walters does not show, a warrant will be issued for her arrest.
If convicted in the death of her son, she faces up to 15 years in prison.
