LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – With a recent spike in children being left inside hot cars, Kosair Children's Hospital is joining the call for parents to take extra steps to protect their kids.
A presentation at Kosair on Monday included a memorial for children who lost their lives in hot cars and a live demonstration showing how fast temperatures rise to dangerous levels inside automobiles.
According to Kosair officials, Kentucky consistently ranks among the states hardest hit by heatstroke deaths among children.
In 2011, 33 Kentucky children died of heatstroke. In 2010, the number was 43.
