LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A section of
Broadway in downtown Louisville has been closed due to a water main break.
The Louisville Water Company was
making repairs at Broadway and Baxter Avenue Tuesday morning when a water main
broke.
According to the LWC the main break was eight inches wide and
caused 40 to 50 businesses and homes in the area to have low pressure or no
water. Services have since been restored.
Kelley Dearing Smith with the LWC said
the company is not sure what caused the break, but fixing it was a routine repair.
Vince Guenther with the
LWC said Broadway is expected to be closed until Wednesday afternoon.
A minor water main break was also
confirmed at 24th Street and Garland Avenue. Officers with the Louisville Metro
Police Department were sent to help with traffic in the area.
