New contracts could save Louisville millions

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two new contracts aim to help the city of Louisville save millions of dollars.

The new contracts involve Metro EMS and Metro Corrections employees.

On the heels of questions about overtime pay policies at the expense of taxpayers, both contracts include provisions so that sick time and vacation no longer count as time worked.

Sister allegedly exploits sick brother

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An employee of the Jefferson County Clerk's Office is facing charges accused of exploiting her brother's health condition so she could dip into his finances.

Kosair part of new group to end child abuse

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky ranks among the top states where children are dying from child abuse. The victims who make up that statistic are often taken to Kosair Children's Hospital.

Kosair is part of a new group aiming to eliminate that stat.

'Partnership to Eliminate Child Abuse' is just that - several partners including medical professionals, local and state leaders. They formed the new group to better communicate with the public.

"We can't often prevent congenital heart disease or cancer in children, but this is completely preventable," Dr. Wright said.

Kosair isn't in this alone. UofL Pediatrics - Forensic Medicine, Kentucky Children's Hospital, local and state leaders formed the new group to better communicate with you and be a resource.

Dr. Wright reached out to print and broadcast outlets in hopes of keeping the conversation going, after a tragic event.
