George Rogers Clark Days at Falls of the Ohio, June 22-23

CLARKSVILLE, IN - The Falls of the Ohio State Park will celebrate the life and times of George Rogers Clark on June 22 and 23. George Rogers Clark Days will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the George Rogers Clark Home Site, 1102 W. Harrison Ave., Clarksville.

Wes and Donna Griffin will perform period music on the hammered dulcimer on June 22 from 1 to 3 p.m.  Re-enactors portraying members of the Clark Family and 18th- and 19th-century militiamen, surveyors and frontiersmen will appear throughout the event. The event also will include atlatl throwing (Indian spear throwing), vendors with period crafts, speakers, musicians, children’s activities and more.

LOUISVILLE, KY - South Louisville Community Ministries (SLCM) will be moving to a new location in late summer 2013.   In February 2013, SLCM announced the creation of an Annual Fund to support expanded services. SLCM has been located on the Americana Community Center campus for the past 10 years.  The new location will be on the campus of Beechmont Presbyterian Church on Ashland Avenue, just off of Southern Parkway.
Last year SLCM ministry served over 22,000 individuals, providing emergency assistance for rent, utilities, and medications.  Additionally, it provided emergency food and operated seven Meals on Wheels routes and an Adult Day Center.  Other new services added in the past year included a Family and Marriage Counseling ministry

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry will host a Male Ministry Initiative 1st Annual Men’s Wing Cook-Off, Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Catholic Enrichment Center located at 3146 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211.

Men are invited to enter into two divisions, Best Hot Wing and Best Original Flavor. The winners of each division will go on to compete for the title of “Wing King Champion”.  There is a $10.00 fee per entry and the cook-off is limited to the first 20 entries. There is a $5.00 fee for each additional entry. The tasting fee is $5.00 per person. For further details or to sign up, please call the Catholic Enrichment Center at 502.776.0262. FRANKFORT, KY – Governor Steve Beshear recognized the official beverage of Kentucky by proclaiming June 2013 Dairy Month in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Gov. Beshear signed a proclamation in recognition of the importance of Kentucky’s dairy industry to the Commonwealth.

“I urge all Kentuckians to support Kentucky’s dairy industry, and to salute Kentucky’s dairy farmers and processors for their contributions to Kentucky,” said Gov. Beshear. “The Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund has helped the re-growth of Kentucky’s dairy industry with more than $13 million in grants and loans related to the dairy industry.”

Wild Eggs to open new location

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A breakfast hot spot is expanding and opening its fourth location in downtown Louisville.

Wild Eggs confirmed they will open a new location on South Floyd Street near East Main in fall 2013.

The company is looking to capture the business crowd and attract visitors and residents from southern Indiana.

The breakfast and lunch restaurant will be housed in the mercantile gallery lofts building, just behind Jimmy John's sandwich shop.

The downtown location will have more of an industrial feel than the Louisville locations.
